Clay

Steve Kemp, a ceramic artist whose hands have shaped clay for over forty years, takes us on a journey—from eager apprentice to master of his craft. Influenced by the lessons of his late teacher, shaped by the trials of life and love, and inspired by the low tide flats of Cape-Cod, his work becomes more than craft: it becomes a portrait of dedication, creativity, and voice. Clay is an open letter to artists everywhere who are still searching for their voice—and still moulding it, day by day.

I made Clay as a meditation on the slow alchemy of making, the journey of a creative, and how Steve’s love for life leaves its trace in the surface of the work and those around him.
